Ideally, every aquarium should begin with a plan of some sort. What size of tank? Which fish or plants will it eventually contain? What equipment will be used? Although I'm not much for planning, here are some of the features I wanted to have for this tank.
I chose a 75 gallon (48" x 18" x 20") All-Glass tank, mostly because it's the size I have room for. 75 gallon is a nice size as it has more depth than most smaller sizes, and not too much height to cause trouble with lighting. I bought the tank and a stand and canopy (my do-it-yourself skills do not extend to carpentry) at a local store.
This tank will feature a slightly terraced substrate of sand and gravel, a variety of plants and fish, and some of my favorite aquarium equipment, following the lessons I learned setting up other tanks. The following pages delve into more detail about each aspect of the tank.
